More about the year 1988
Despite her best efforts, Chris Evert-Mill misses out on the big coup on her farewell from Filderstadt. Married to skier Andy Mill, the American is outplayed by Martina Navrátilová in the final — and once again fails to become a Porsche driver. Navrátilová on the other hand can now really be called a Porsche collector. The contest ends like it did in the previous year but this time even more in her favour. She pockets the 911 Carrera Cabriolet and is maybe thinking about her upcoming spin in the car — but not yet about retiring. Things are different for Chris Evert-Mill who ends her playing career in September 1989 at the US Open.
